The Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science (SYNL) has established the T.S. KE Research Fellowship program, named after Professor Ting Sui Ke who is a distinguished materials scientist. The purpose of the fellowship is to provide opportunities for outstanding young scholars from all over the world to pursue high level research in areas of materials science and engineering at the SYNL and to foster the future academic head.
The SYNL is operated by the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Chinese Academy of Sciences, to conduct the fundamental research of materials science. Currently, there are 499 staffs and students in SYNL, which is comprised of ten research divisions working in Non-equilibrium Metallic Materials, High-performance Ceramics, Advanced Carbons, Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, Microelectronic Interconnect Materials, Solid Atomic Imaging, Materials Fatigue and Fracture, Engineering Alloys, Materials Processing and Modeling, and Catalytic Materials, and a technical service division.
A prospective Fellow must have a doctorate completed less than three years prior to the date of application, under 35 years old, and will be required to conduct full-time research at the SYNL.
The Fellowship supports not more than three Fellows each year. Typically it is for a three-year duration. The annual stipend for the Fellow will be RMB 100,000, 120,000, or 150,000. In addition, each Fellow will receive an allowance for research costs amounting to RMB 500,000. The deadline for application is April 30 or November 30 each year.
The Institute of Metal Research whole-heartedly invites qualified and young scholars to apply for the research fellowship.
