Abstract: In the talk, the speaker will give a brief introduction of gas turbine design and the current challenges in alloy design and processing of gas turbine components. Then investment casting process will be introduced with emphasis on grain selection in single crystal casting, and finally the speaker will talk about the way forward of materials/process requirements in future turbine engines.
